LA'S PROTOTYPE SAFETY STAYED HOME — SORT OF
Myles Baker's recruitment had a twist, and LA fans will like how it ended.
The Sierra Canyon safety in Chatsworth, a 4-star prospect in the Class of 2027 ranked No. 192 overall and No. 14 at safety by 247Sports, first committed to Cal on March 29, 2026. Then, on June 30, 2026, he flipped to UCLA — choosing the Bruins over offers that included Alabama, LSU, Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
That's not a player settling. That's a player choosing LA, with the whole country on the table.

WHAT BAKER DOES ON THE FIELD
At 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-2 and 195 to 200 pounds, Baker plays the way modern safeties are supposed to play: physical against the run, disruptive in the box, and capable in coverage.
His junior season in 2025 tells that story in numbers: 34 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 5 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 1 sack. As a senior in 2026, he added an interception and 7 tackles in Sierra Canyon's 28-10 win over Orange Lutheran.
He doesn't just play safety. He affects games in every phase a safety can.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR BAKER
Baker is headed to UCLA, where he'll join a program building around LA talent — and where Sierra Canyon-to-Westwood is a pipeline LA fans already know well.
For ALREADY!, Baker is the perfect example of the under-20 athlete doing it at the highest level right now: nationally ranked, Power 4 committed, and still making plays every Friday night in Chatsworth before he ever puts on a college uniform.
